I followed my clone here... We'll see how it goes... While we're waiting for that though here is a look at some of the things that interest me... Just point your cursor on any pic that catches your fancy...
first Thing You Will Notice About Me
My animation and friendliness. The next thing is that I take up causes... too many but there you go...
Turn On's
Brainiacs; happy babies; beautiful things; arrogance; success; men with beards; men with dreadlocks; men with long hair; men with shaven heads :-); men with earrings; courage; resilience and winners.
When the mood strikes me you could add sarcasm to that list too... :-)
Turn Off's
Loud people, noise and I have absolutely no tolerance for people who are disrespectful to others because of their beliefs or lifestyles.
I am a firm believer in the philosophy that admonishes us to live and let live...
With this in mind I've created three new communities (under the auspices of my second profile, Mary_Aranxia) and I invite you to join them now and take a stand with me against repression and violence...These new communities are Christianity; Eradicate World Poverty NOW! and Stop Child Abuse Immediately... Thanks much for your support...
Hobbies
Collecting (Art, Coins, Stamps, Candles, Books); Interior Decorating; Cactus Gardening; Planning Events; Developing programmes of study at work; Learning new things...
Movies
Saw "Freedom Writers" on my birthday the other day. I particularly enjoy suspense thrillers - will the murderer succeed? Perennial favourites have been anything with Sean Connery in it; "The Man in the Iron Mask", "The Count of Monte Cristo", "The Da Vinci Code", "Batman Begins", "March of the Penguins", "ET", "Happy Feet" and "Finding Nemo".
I have also found myself becoming morbidly fascinated by the programme "Bones" on tv... Monk, House, Jonathan Creek, Kyle XY, Kim Possible (I know, I know)... and I absolutely love the spoof spy films/shows of the 1960s like "Get Smart" and "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and those absolutely horrible programmes from the 50s and 60s like Batman (have you seen the biff, bang, pow fight sequences?)and Superman... The production was so bad that it's great... I just love to see where tv. is coming from...
Music
Eclectic taste - Jazz, classical guitar, violin and cello, reggae, world music. I love U2, UB40, Vertical Horizon, Green Day, Third Day and Third World...
Books
Eclectic taste here as well. I particularly enjoy French translations for the dry, spartan style of the narrative - Albert Camus and Collette - that type of thing. I truly like Virginia Woolfe for the symbolism and stream of consciousness best seen in The Waves.
Passions
I have been in a lifelong chess game with fate. The winner will claim Jamaica's successful future.
Sports
Many, but you'll have to read Mary-Aranxia's profile to see what I'm really into.
Activities
Anything, ANYTHING, that will bring Jamaica to the attention of the world in a positive way. This explains why I spend so much time here trying to share my beautiful little island with the good people here on Frooler. Most of you come from countries that are superpowers of the world in one way or another and you may not have heard about or care about little places like mine but I want to change that. I think that we have much to offer and if you look carefully you will discover the rich treasures that reside here.
Tv Shows
Here is a list of some of my favourite shows and what I think of them:
Nip/Tuck - A startling look at the seamier side of the beauty industry.
Bones - This programme makes the ugliness of life tolerably attractive.
CSI Miami - Leaves no illusions that theirs is a nasty job.
House MD - Gritty tv. One can actually admire people that one doesn't actually like.
Boston Legal - Silly! Pure escapism!
Prison Break - Raw. Painful to watch at times. Leaves no illusions that prison isn't the place to be even for people with a martyr complex.
Monk - Intelligent television. Challenges one to be truly courageous.
Burn Notice - Funny in the extreme!
Cuisines
Jamaican
Japanese
Indian
Vegetarian
I'm a big restaurant person...
from my past relationships I Learned
Act always especially if you are afraid. The Universe has a way of rewarding those who have the courage to act.
FiveThings That I Cannot Live Without
JESUS CHRIST, My family, my significant other :-), the internet, the right to express myself.
Ideal Match
I'm attracted to arrogance and brilliance. These lend a confidence that is hot.
High School
The family alma mater - St. Hugh's High in Kingston, Jamaica. Actually, it was one of the best high schools in the island at the time. I'm not sure what it's status is at the moment. I should check out the past students' association...
